Christmas Lights Switch-on and Christmas Donations

Christmas Lights Switch-on 2017

We’re delighted with the success of our Christmas Lights Switch-on, and that we were able to donate to 2 fantastic charities!

On Friday 1st December, we kicked off the festive season here at Red Deer Village with our annual Christmas lights switch-on. Everyone started arriving in the office around 4:30pm, and helped themselves to a mince pie and a drink, in wait of the lights being turned on.

After a slight delay due to our MSP’s (Fulton MacGregor’s) late appearance, the lights were turned on by our longest resident of the park, Mrs Beatrice McGinn, who has lived on the park for some 35 years. She was a resident on the old park when it was still known as Craigendmuir Park.

Everything looked absolutely beautiful, with the bright lights contrasting against the dark winter night. Strings of lights were wound up the streetlights, and deer, a teddy bear, christmas baubles and snowmen featured around the park.

Inside the hub was decorated with Christmas cushions, Santa Claus figures, a Christmas garland around the coffee bar and fireplace, and a beautiful red and silver tree featuring in the corner.

Also in attendance were a photographer and 2 representatives from the local Salvation Army branch, who were here to collect £250 worth of presents donated from Red Deer Village, as well as a few wonderful presents and cash donations from residents, to be distributed to underprivileged children in the local area.

A £250 cheque was also made to Make a Wish Foundation from Red Deer Village. Sadly, no one from the charity was able to make it on the night, but the cheque will be sent in the post to them.

Thank you to all residents who were able to make it on the night and make it such a pleasurable occasion!
