Red Deer Village’s Charity Box

A big thank you to all of our Red Deer Village residents, staff and visitors to the park, as we’ve managed to raise some great totals for some fantastic charities through our charity box.

Red Deer Village is an exclusive over 50s community in Stepps, Glasgow, with residential park homes for sale, owned by brothers John and Ivan Hendry for around 14 years.

Our charity boxes rotate monthly, and sit next to our coffee machine in our residents hub, which  was officially opened in September 2017, hosting a range of events and activities. People can donate before enjoying a beverage or when exchanging a book.

Donations Raised

A list of recently chosen charities and the amounts raised are below:

Firstly, Alzheimer Scotland raised £55.24. Alzheimer Scotland provides a variety of specialist services for people with dementia and their carers. They offer personalised support services, community activities, information and advice at each stage of the dementia journey. Marilyn, a representative from the charity, came out to collect the money raised on Tuesday 19 June.

Secondly, Butterfly Trust raised £61.31. The Butterfly Trust was a charity specifically chosen by some of our residents. It helps to support individuals and their families suffering with cystic fibrosis.

In addition, Barnardo’s raised £84.07. Barnardo’s work will children, young people, parents and carers. They aim to build stronger families, safer childhoods and futures for young people. This means they focus specifically on mental health and wellbeing, child abuse and children in and leaving care.

Last but not least, Macmillan Cancer Support raised £32.69. Macmillan provides physical, emotional and financial support to the individuals and families of those diagnosed with cancer. In addition, they can give information on what to expect, practical advice and give accounts of others’ experiences.
