Exceptional Service Awards

Certificates handed out during official opening of Community Hub by Rufus Bellamy

Park Background

Red Deer Village, Stepps, is an established residential and holiday park in Stepps, Glasgow. And now, it has announced that two more of its staff have achieved  prestigious industry exceptional service awards.

The park has been owned and run by the Hendry family for the past thirteen years. It already has eleven other employees in receipt of the BH&HPA Exceptional Service Awards. (British Holiday & Home Park Association.) The BH&HPA is a trade body which promotes and supports the park industry across the UK. Additionally, it has a number of awards schemes covering customer service, along with conservation and energy efficiency issues.

Exceptional Service Awards

The Exceptional Service Awards are known as the Oscars of the park industry. Launched in 2009, they were introduced so that owners could directly nominate and reward the staff they think deserve official industry recognition. Furthermore, the awards are open to park staff across the board, not necessary those in direct customer facing roles. And in the case of Red Deer Village, this includes Gardeners, Ground workers and in-house construction staff.

The two latest winners are Dimitar Kasabov and Alistair McKinnon. Dimitar lives on the park and is part of the park’s construction and building team. He joined the team in October 2015. Meanwhile Alistair drives the park’s minibus, taking residents on shopping trips and outings.

Awards Presentation

The two were presented with their awards by Rufus Bellamy, son of TV Botanist David. Rufus was invited to Red Deer Village to open the park’s £450k Community hub along with local MP for Coatbridge, Chryston & Bellshill, Hugh Gaffney, and local MSP, Fulton MacGregor.

Director’s Words

Said Park Owner John Hendry, who jointly owns the park with brother Ivan: “We are delighted to award these two highly deserving employees with this accolade. And this now brings our tally of current Exceptional Service Award winners on the park to thirteen. This is testament to the hard work of our whole staff. As we have built a team of people who get on well together and are a real credit to themselves. Furthermore, they enhance the day to day experience of living here for all our residents. Whether it’s taking them out on outings which Alistair does with such enthusiasm, or providing a well maintained environment in which to live, as is the case with our groundwork team. Therefore, we value each and every role our staff perform.

“Rufus coming up to open our new hub provided us with the perfect opportunity to hand out these latest presentations at the same time. And therefore, our thanks go to him once again for coming along. Dimitar and Alistair had no idea it was going to happen so it was lovely to surprise them in this way!” finished John.

Rufus Bellamy said: “On behalf of the BH&HPA I give the recipients my warmest congratulations on these awards. Really well done all of you. I also wish to congratulate John and Ivan as it is evident they proved a truly supportive environment in which to work.” Red Deer Village’s new community hub has taken over eighteen months in the planning and over six months to build and complete. It will provide a place to gather and relax. Additionally, it can be used by local associations and groups who can come in and give talks and presentations to the residents.
